- Stewardship is more than the giving of funds to run the parish... it is an important part of our faith. Stewardship is not just another program, nor is it easy. As a Catholic community, Holy Cross Catholic Church believes it is our responsibility to recognize the gifts we have been given, cultivate them and share them with others. It is powerful to realize that everything, even your faith itself, is a gift from God and that he has trusted you to share and invest them wisely.

  It extends beyond a single volunteer activity or financial pledge into all we do as Christians. What we commonly call “volunteering” is actually "ministry," which is from the Greek word diakoneo, meaning "to serve.” In the New Testament, ministry is seen as service to God and to other people in His name. In light of this, any manner in which we serve others (Scouting, Meals on Wheels, St. Vincent de Paul, etc.) is done for the good of bothers and we do it in the name of the Lord. Jesus provided the pattern for all ministry—”He came, not to be served, but to serve.” (see Matthew 20,28; Mark 10,45; John 13,1-17).

  As stewards, each one of us are caretakers of all of God’s gifts. In a spirit of gratitude, we are called to give to God a percentage of what we have earned to the work of the church. It's part of our call of discipleship.
