Hours of Operation: *Closed until the completion of our new Community Center & SVdP Food Pantry in 2024.
We thank our St. Vincent de Paul workers for their years of dedication to feeding the hungry here in North Portland. While it is true that our Food Pantry closed on November 30th, 2023 (until our new Community Center opens), we are directing our labors and financial support to the SVdP Conference at Holy Redeemer parish.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide Catholic organization of laypersons whose members strive to live their faith by serving the less fortunate with love and dignity, without judgement or discrimination. As a way to help people escape the cycle of poverty, volunteers lend assistance to those lacking the basic necessities of life, offering a hand up rather than a handout.
The St. Vincent de Paul would like to thank New Seasons for being a food partner.
*This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
Lectors consist of men and women who proclaim the Word of God at daily, weekend, and Holy Day Masses. This ministry requires preparation through prayer, an understanding of the scriptural text, and an ability to read clearly with appropriate pronunciation and emphasis. The Word should be proclaimed with humility and reverence so that the Holy Spirit will speak through you. A commitment to the training and lector schedule requirements of this ministry is necessary.
Please contact the Parish Office at 503.289.2834 if you are interested in serving as a minister.
Altar Servers help facilitate our Eucharistic liturgies in a regular and reverent manner. Serving at the Altar is a special privilege. Altar Servers are close to the altar as they serve the priest and help to carry the cross and the light of Christ as the Gospel is proclaimed. This ministry is open to anyone who has entered the fifth grade or older. Being an Altar Server is a liturgical function; therefore, one must be a baptized and Eucharistic Catholic. It is out of one’s baptism into the Body of Christ that they are called to this ministry. If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, please contact the Parish Office at 503.289.2834.
God's Girls is a dedicated group that prays for the needs of our community. The group keeps the parish community, near and far, connected primarily through phone and email contact. If you would like more information or would like to join the prayer group, please contact Jana Ripley at 503.289.8304. You’ve always got a friend with one of God's Girls.
